Gastric Reflux Tips

  • Abstain from caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and mint-flavored items.
  • Avoid large meals within three hours of sleeping.
  • Elevate the head of the bed with 4-inch wood blocks to create a gentle
    slope.  Pillows alone are not adequate.
  • Over the counter acid-blocker medications, such as Prilosec, Pepcid or
    Zantac can be helpful
  • Follow-up with our office if you have reflux more than twice a week. 
    You may need prescription medication  to avoid damaging your stomach
    and esophagus.
